The USCS team is focused on making membership an indisputable competitive advantage and helping each other become better leaders every day.The objective of the US Consumer Services Control Management Specialized Risk Management team is to provide subject matter expertise on specific Operational Risk topics to ensure the business unit (BU) is equipped with in-depth knowledge of risk-stripes to manage and mitigate these risks effectively; supports the BU with expert guidance for topical Operational Risk intelligence.US Consumer Services is looking for a Sr. Analyst of Specialized Risk Management focused on ensuring control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies. ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Analyst, US Consumer Services Specialized Risk Management will:Act as a compliance risk advisor and support to front-line business teams, helping them understand and comply with applicable regulatory obligationsSupport the execution of compliance risk assessments and ongoing monitoring activities within the business unitMonitor business activities for compliance with laws, regulations, and internal standards (e.g., BSA/AML)Track and remediate compliance issues and control gaps identified through monitoring, audits, or regulatory examsMaintain and update business-level compliance documentation, including procedures, control descriptions, and training materialsSupport compliance testing, audit readiness, and business responses to regulatory inquiries and examinationsContribute to reporting compliance metrics and trends to business leadershipQualificationsRequired Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) and understanding critical operational risk management lifecycle activitiesProject management, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience in process governance, establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standardsSound analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectivelyPreferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field or certifications are advantageousExperience in at least one of the following: Assisting in day-to-day activities to support compliance with enterprise policies and programs pertaining to specific risk types and supporting with design/enhancement of procedures/standards by providing topic-specific insightAssisting in specific activities / tasks required to support advising on decentralized risk types into broader operational risk policies and programsEmployment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.About the TeamAt American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared values and Leadership Behaviors, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues.
